(Malaysian Digest) - PAS vice president, Datuk Mahfuz Omar today urged Umno leaders especially Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to define the real meaning of ‘Ketuanan Melayu’.
Speaking to reporters in Parliament lobby this evening, Mahfuz said currently there are no any documents that specifically define what ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ is to prove the existence of the term.“Lately we could see that Umno is trying to show that they are the hero of the Malays and championing issues that are related to them. Every issue will be linked to an attempt to tarnish the ‘Ketuanan Melayu’,” said Mahfuz.
“But what is it actually? Prof Khoo Kay Kim has once made a statement that ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ does not exist in the Constitution and urged politicians to stop discussions on it,” he added.
“But all we can see, Umno still uses it (Ketuanan Melayu) as their modal. I’m honestly making a request to Umno leaders to define exactly what ‘Ketuanan Melayu’ is,” he added.
Mahfuz who is also the MP for Pokok Sena gave Najib two weeks to define the term.
